Brescia Food and Nutrition is an accredited program in health and wellness. The program is designed to prepare students to become Registered Dietitians and work in various areas of the food industry. Students also learn about the social and environmental influences on eating habits.
The program is accredited by the Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice. It is also approved by the College of Dietitians of Ontario. In addition, students have the option of completing a Master’s of Science in Food and Nutrition. This degree is taught in English.
Students can also take the opportunity to engage with the local community by taking part in volunteer opportunities. These opportunities can help to strengthen their resumes and make them more competitive in internship programs. There are also scholarship opportunities available. They are awarded based on need and merit.
The college also offers scholarships to international students. Students should apply as early as possible to ensure they are accepted. Applicants are required to provide the school with a non-refundable tuition deposit. A letter of offer must be sent to applicants at least fourteen days before classes begin. All documents must be sent in a sealed envelope. If the application is incomplete, it can result in a rejection.
The academic pavilion at Brescia is a modernization of the school’s Food and Nutritional Sciences program. It is located next to the MSJ Memorial Building and frames the entrance to the campus. The degree in nutrition building uses a variety of materials to reflect different spaces.
Another unique feature of the school is its residence complex. Recently built, the $31.1 million facility is complete and 310 female students can now live in a comfortable, modern residence. With seven foot glass showers, lounges on each floor, and window seats, students can enjoy the comforts of home while pursuing their educational goals. Other features include en suite glass showers, bar fridges, big screen TVs, and room service.
Students can also join clubs like FRESH and Nutrition Ignition to build their community connections. The college’s interdisciplinary program offers a wide variety of nutrition courses, including Nutrition & Dietetics and the Fundamentals of Community Nutrition. As part of their education, they will explore the chemical composition of foods and how culture affects eating habits. Also, students have the opportunity to participate in hands-on experience with food production.
Brescia’s Food and Nutrition program is one of the best in the country. Whether students are pursuing a graduate degree or a certificate, they will benefit from the high quality instruction, faculty, and resources offered by the college. Plus, the faculty is devoted to ensuring their students have the greatest chance of succeeding.
Brescia has an impressive track record when it comes to educating women. From its beginnings as a small school with just seven women, the institution has grown to a university that serves over 1,200 full-time and part-time students. Since its founding, the college has continued to educate women while maintaining a strong sense of community.
